Each activity is worth 1 credit. For instance, if you have 3 subscriptions (blogs, magazines, newspapers, etc.) then it equals 3 credits, 2 workshops equal 2 credits, and so on.
How many points can I claim for each category?
There are no limits to the number of eligible activities per category. You may put one check for each activity reported, which means that you can put more than one check in the same box.
How often do I have to submit my grid for continuing education credits?
Grids are to be submitted each year in June-July.
If I took part in activities over the course of the year, but I’m not sure they qualify, should I include them on the grid?
Yes. Remember reading books, newspapers, magazines, blogs and other online resources are all taken into consideration, as is volunteer work, sitting on committees, taking part in workshops, etc. If an activity does not fit into one of these categories, simply use the Other category and include a description. The Continuing Education Committee is open to reviewing all kinds of different activities.

Why do I need to accumulate continuing education credits when I already earned my certification?
Mandatory continuing education is an indispensable tool for ensuring that certified professionals keep up to date and enrich their knowledge in their field. Lawyers, doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, accountants, etc. are all required to take part in continuing education activities.
If this is the second year of the two-year cycle and I don’t know how many credits I accumulated the first year, how do I find out how many more credits I need?
Make sure you keep your grids for both years of the two-year cycle on file. That way, you will know how many credits you require for the second year of the two-year cycle. You can always contact the registrar to confirm the number of points you obtained.
If I’m retired, am I still required to accumulate continuing education credits?
All certified members are required to take part in continuing education activities for a minimum of 8 credits over each two-year cycle.
Why do continuing education activities have to be outside the “normal course” of my employment? I completed professional development activities at the bequest of my employer, can I include them as continuing education credits?
The reason the Continuing Education Committee has limited these credits to outside the regular working environment is to avoid having the typical duties of translators, interpreters and terminologists included on the grid, such as mentoring at work or compiling a glossary. However, certain activities completed at the bequest of your employer may be eligible for credits. So, yes, you should submit these activities for evaluation. The Committee takes a generous approach when it comes to evaluating the merits of professional development activities.
What if I do not meet the continuing education requirements or I do not send in my continuing education grid for evaluation?
The accumulation of a minimum of 8 credits over the two-year cycle is mandatory for all certified members. If you do not meet the continuing education requirements or you do not send in your grid for evaluation, your certification will be rescinded and you will be prohibited from using the CT or CI designation. Moreover, any person who falsely presents herself or himself as a certified member of the Corporation commits an offence and may be subject to prosecution under the Corporation of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of New Brunswick Act, 1989.

Why are paid activities not recognized?

Why is proof required for each activity completed?
